2017 6 Days Tibet Classic Tour

For many, the highlights of Tibet will be of a spiritual nature - magnificent monasteries, remote retreats and pilgrim paths; for others it will be the inspiring and raw high-altitude valleys, lakes and mountains of this unique plateau. This trip takes you past glittering mountains, turquoise lakes and over high passes draped with prayer flags and visit ages holy monasteries and temples. For anyone who travels with us, a visit to Tibet will be memorable and fascinating, but also sobering experience.





Day 1__Arrive in Lhasa 3650m

Arrive in the holy city Lhasa, capital of the mystical Buddhist Kingdom of Tibet. Today we will arrange two times airport/hotel transfer. One is around 12:00 a.m.; another one is around 16:00 p.m. According to the group situation, transfer time could be slightly different. After check in, the rest of the day will be at leisure for you to relax and adjust to the high altitude.


Day 2__Lhasa City Tour 3650m      Breakfast, Dinner

Lhasa City Tour to visit Potala Palace and Sera Monastery. If we are very lucky, we may even come across Sera Monastery’s Monks debiting which was held in the courtyard at around 3:00-5:30 in the afternoon.

Potala Palace: (3700 m) built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king, Songtzen Gampo. The present one was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. It became known as the "Winter Palace" by the 1750, when the 7th Dalai Lama built the Norbulingka Park as his summer residence.

Jokhang Temple: situated in the old section of Lhasa. King Songtzen Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century A.D. Now it is the most sacred place in Tibet. Pilgrims come here to pay homage from all over Tibet.

Barkhore Street: Spiritual souvenirs and pilgrim accessories line the entire circuit, with stalls selling prayer flags, amulets, turquoise jewellery, Tibetan boots, cowboy hats, yak butter and juniper incense. It’s the perfect place to start your explorations of Lhasa, and the last spot you’ll want to see before you bid the city farewell.




Day 3__Lhasa 3650m      Breakfast

Today you will vist Drepung Monastery, Buddhist Sculpture Carving and Sera Monastery.

Drepung Monastery: is definitely among the highlights of a trip to Tibet. Along with Sera and Ganden Monasteries, Drepung functioned as one of the three 'pillars of Tibetan state' and this one was purportedly the largest monastery in the world, with around 7000 resident monks at its peak. Drepung means 'rich heap' a reference to the white buildings dotting the hillside.

Sera Monastery: is one of the 'great three' Gelug university monasteries of Tibet. The origin of its name is attributed to a fact that the site where the monastery was built was surrounded by wild roses in bloom.


Day 4__Lhasa 3650m to Shigatse 3800m   Breakfast

Passing by the green farmland of Nyangchu Valley, Yamdro-tso lakes, karo-la glacier roadside at 4960m, We move westwards to the second biggest city Shigatse, where spiritually hosted by Pamchan Lama. And in Gyantse, you will visit Kubum Monastery is also a famous monastery which could not be missed. After that you will visit Barley Mill to explore locals' diet.

Yamdrok-tso Lake (4441m): can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la pass (4794m). Yamdrok is one of Three Holy Lake in Tibet.

Karo-la Glacier: The Glacier sits back against the northern slope of Mt. Naiqinkangsang (7191m). There is an ice cap in the upper side and two glacier tongues in the down side. The whole glacier covers an area of 9.4 square kilometres.

Pelkor Chode Monastery (4040m): The Monastery is founded in 1418, notable for its superb Kumbum Chode (10,000 Images Stupa). Later drive ahead to Shigatse. 




Day 5__ Shigatse 3800m to Lhasa 3650m   Breakfast

This morning you will visit Tashilunpo Moanstery. And then we will drive back to Lhasa along Yarlong Tsangpo River by the Nepal friendship road. You will visit a local village. After check in the hotel, you are free at your own leisure.

Tashilunpo Monastery: was built in1447 by the first Dalai Lama, and then the spectacular tombs of Panchen Lamas. In addition to the mesmerising statue of Maitreya Buddha in the Temple of the Maitreya, the monastery is famed for the opulent tombs of the fourth and 10th Panchen Lamas. The former saw 85kg of gold and masses of jewels used in its construction.


Day 6__Lhasa Departure    Breakfast

Today we will arrange two morning hotel/airport transfers. One is around 07:30am; another one is around 11:00 a.m. According to the group situation, transfer time could be slightly different.

Price included Services:

1.     Tibetan English speaking tour guide.

2.     Tour sites entrance tickets as mentioned in the schedule including Potala Place ticket booking fee.

3.     5 nights 3* or 4* accommodation as mentioned in the schedule which depends on your choice. Two people share 1 twin room. If you have a private room, you need pay single supplement.

4.     Group transfer. 7-seat vehicle for a group less than 5 participants, 17-seat vehicle for a 5 to 9 participants group and 22-seat vehicle for a 10 to 12 participants group. On Day 1 and Day 6, we will arrange two times of group transfer between airport and hotel.

5.     5 breakfasts and 1 dinner in the local restaurant.

6.     Tibet Permit.

7.     Bottle water. And emergency oxygen bag when it's needed.
