The Giant Panda is one of the most endangered animals in the world, and this conservation project is a fantastic opportunity to observe and help these adorable creatures. Volunteer here and your assistance will go a long way to helping prevent the extinction of this lovely animal.


Since Panda Volunteer Work has been suspended at Chengdu Panda Breeding Centre and Ya’an Panda Base, Dujiangyan Panda Base is only available base running the Panda Keeper Programme. Panda Valley Dujiang is also known as Dujiangyan Research Center of Giant Panda Breeding and Release under Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. It’s a new Panda Base around Chengdu. It’s part of efforts to study the release of the giant panda to its natural habitat.

Day 01__Arrival in Chengdu
Arrive in Chengdu, you will be met by your tour guide and taken to your hotel. After check in, the rest time is at leisure.


Day 02__Chengdu to Dujiangyan
This morning you will visit Chengdu Panda Breeding Centre. After lunch, we will drive to Dujiangyan. You will visit Dujiangyan Irrigation System.

Chengdu Panda Breeding Centre: has been created and imitated the natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. It cares also for other rare and endangered wild animals with an area of 92 acres, 96% of which is verdure. Giant pandas, lesser pandas, black-necked cranes, white storks as well as over 20 species of rare animals are fed and bred there throughout the year. Verdant bamboo, bright flowers, fresh air, a natural hill scene and a beautiful artificial view are merged ingeniously at the base.




Dujiangyan Irrigation System: is the oldest and only surviving no-dam irrigation system in the world; and a wonder in the development of Chinese science. The project consists of three important parts, namely Yuzui, Feishayan and Baopingkou scientifically designed to automatically control the water flow of the rivers from the mountains to the plains throughout the year.


Day 03__Panda Volunteer Work Day
A whole day panda volunteer work at Dujiangyan Panda Valley Base.

08:30 to 11:30 Do volunteer work in Panda Valley Dujiangyan. Volunteers activities could include preparing the food for the pandas (such as apples, panda bread, carrots, bamboo), cleaning their enclosures and ensure they are secure in their environment and helping out where needed. Occasionally volunteers are asked to participate in research of the pandas and help in providing medical care for the pandas.




12:00 to 13:30 Break for lunch

14:00 to 16:00 Continue do your volunteer work. Complete your whole day work, your guide will help you get a certification which proves you do the volunteer work at the training base.




Day 04__Dujiangyan to Qingcheng Shan to Chengdu

After breakfast, we will drive to visit Mt. Qingcheng Shan. You will be back to Chengdu in the late afternoon. Tonight you will have Chengdu snacks as dinner!

Mt. Qingcheng Shan: has been a Taoist retreat for more than 2000 years. Its beautiful trails are lined with ginkgo, plum and palm trees as well as caves, pavilions and gorgeous, centuries-old wooden temples


Day 05__Departure

Your Panda Valley Volunteer Work Tour is near the end. You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
