Yunnan owns both ethnic people and stunning landscape. Shangri-la, which is also known as Zhongdian in Chinese, is where you begin to breathe in the Tibetan world. After visit 300 years old Sumtseling Gompa, you will trek in Niru Village at where you will find the Tibetan villagers live a peaceful and carefree life. They go to bed with the lamb and rise with the lark. And then we will move to Tiger Leaping Gorge. One of the deepest gorges in the world, Tiger Leaping Gorge measures 16km long and is a giddy 3900m from the waters of the Jinsha River to the snowcapped mountains of Haba Mountain to the west and Yulong Mountain to the east, and, despite the odd danger, it’s gorgeous almost every single step of the way. You will have 2-day trekking through the classic trekking paths.
D2__Kunming to Shangri-la
After breakfast, you will take a flight to Shangri-la. Upon arrival, you will visit Ganden Sumtseling Gompa (Songzanlin Monastery). Afternoon is free at your own to adjust altitude or wander in old town area.
Ganden Sumtseling Gompa (Songzanlin Monastery): remains the most important monastery in southwest China. It is a 300-year-old Tibetan monastery complex with around 600 monks.
D3__Shangri-La to Niru Village
After breakfast, we will drive 5 hours to
D4__ Niru Village to Nanbao Yak Meadow
Today we will trek all the way up. It’s a hard day during this trip. Hike 4 hours from Nanbao Yak Meadow (3500m), where is very close to the Yunnan-Sichuan boundary. After a picnic lunch and a rest, we will hike 3 hours to visit the beautiful panorama of the ‘Three Lakes': Ding Lake, Nabocuona Lake and Selai Lake. Overnight in tent.
D5__Nanbao Yak Meadow to Niru Village
After enjoy Nanbao Yak Meadow morning view, we will trek about 3 hours form Nanbao Yak Meadow back down to Niru Village, and visit Selie Lake. Overnight at local guesthouse.
D6__Niru Village to Seven Coloured Waterfalls
This morning we will pay a visit Niru holy mountain, Shegar Mountain. And then we will trek to Seven Coloured Waterfalls (3150m), where we will stop for picnic lunch. This afternoon is free at your own leisure. In the evening we will have barbeque.
D7__ Seven Colour Waterfall to Shudu Lake to Shangri-La
Today is the last day for trekking. After breakfast we will trek over Bengarlaka Mountain (3880m) to Shudu Lake to see the lush forest, mountains, lakes, and the fertile pastures that the Tibetan locals graze their yaks from May to October. We will meet our drive at here. And then visit the Tiansheng Bridge Hot Spring to relax your tired muscles. Drive back to Shangri-La then. The rest time is at your own leisure.
D8__Shangri-la to Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge to Tina’s Guesthouse
After breakfast, we drive to Shangri-La. On the way, we will visit Baishuitai. The scenery along the way should keep you glued to the window.
Baishuitai: the glimmer of the sun bouncing off the rippling waters tiny hamlets in the valley below rivals that of Haba on the previous day.
D9__ Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge to Half-way
Today we will trek another 3 hours. You will visit Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge at first. And then you will hike from Tina’s Guest House passing a small but awesome Guanyin Xia Waterfall on the way. This section is the highlight of Tiger Leaping Gorge trekking. We will continue to Half-way, with a great view of
D10__Half-way to Qiaotou to Lijiang
After breakfast, you will trek approximately 5 hours to Qiaotou. About 1.5 hours to the steep 28 Bends and reach the top of 2670m along the way. Another 2 hours down to Naxi Family Guesthouse. After a short rest, you will have around 1.5 more hours easy trekking to Qiaotou. Your driver will meet you and Qiaotou. And drive about 2 hours to Lijiang.
Today is free at your own leisure after trekking tour. You could wander in Dayan Old Town (Lijiang Old Town). Or just have a cup of coffee and enjoy beautiful sunshine.
Dayan Old Town (Lijiang Old Town): is prestigious for its unique system of waterways and bridges built by Naxi People’s with their special culture background. There are almost 350 varied and inimitable bridges in the little town, some of which were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
D12__ Lijiang to Kunming
Your Shangri-la Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking Tour is near the end. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Kunming. End of service.
