Day 2__Lhasa City Tour
Lhasa City Tour to Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhore Street.
Potala Palace: (3700 m) built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king, Songtzen Gampo. The present one was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. It became known as the "
Jokhang Temple: situated in the old section of Lhasa. King Songtzen Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century A.D. Now it is the most sacred place in
Barkhore Street: Spiritual souvenirs and pilgrim accessories line the entire circuit, with stalls selling prayer flags, amulets, turquoise jewellery, Tibetan boots, cowboy hats, yak butter and juniper incense. It’s the perfect place to start your explorations of Lhasa, and the last spot you’ll want to see before you bid the city farewell.
Day 3__Lhasa City Tour
Lhasa City Tour includes Drepung Monastery and Norbulingka Park.
Drepung Monastery: is the largest of the monastery of the Gelug Sect in Tibet. Along with Sera and Ganden Monasteries, Drepung functioned as one of the three 'pillars of Tibetan state' and this one was purportedly the largest monastery in the world, with around 7000 resident monks at its peak.
Norbulingka Park:iIn 1752, the 7th Dalai Lama built the first palace here for successive Dalai Lamas to carry out their political and religious activities during the summer season. Today Norbulingka has become a public park for picnicking, relaxing and entertainment.
Day 4__Lhasa to Namtso Lake
In the morning we will drive to Namtso Lake (4718m) via Yangpachen hot-spring. Drive back to Lhasa in the afternoon.
Lhasa to Namtso Lake: You will have a chance to see Nyenchen Thanglha snow mountain ranges, and pass the Nagela(5190m). Namtso Lake is the sky lake which is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet; also the highest salt lake.
Day 5__Lhasa to Gyantse to Shigatse
Drive to Shigatse after breakfast. On the way, you will visit dazzling Yamdrok-tso Lake and Pelkor Chode Monastery.
Yamdrok-tso Lake (4441m): can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la pass (4794m). Yamdrok is one of
Pelkor Chode Monastery (4040m): The Monastery is founded in 1418, notable for its superb Kumbum Chode (10,000 Images Stupa). Later drive ahead to Shigatse.
Day 6__Shigatse to Lhasa
Morning visit the Bachen Lama Set - Tashilunpo Monastery. Afternoon we will drive back to Lhasa along Yarlong Tsangpo River by the Nepal friendship road. Then, your guide will take you to visit a local Tibetan family and Tibetan carpet workshop for free.
Tashilunpo Monastery: was Built in1447 by the first Dalai Lama, and then the spectacular tombs of Panchen Lamas. In addition to the mesmerising statue of Maitreya Buddha in the Temple of the Maitreya, the monastery is famed for the opulent tombs of the fourth and 10th Panchen Lamas. The former saw 85kg of gold and masses of jewels used in its construction.
