The Silk Road is a historically important international trade route between China the Mediterranean. This Classic Silk Road Tour starts from Xi’an, you will discover one of imperial China’s most iconic remains at Terracotta Warriors and explore the Muslim Quarter. And then you will take a flight to Dunhuang, a natural staging post for dusty Silk Road explorers. And you will visit the magnificent Mogao Grottos Caves.Hop aboard the train to Turpan for old and best preserved Jiaohe Ruins Site and beautiful mountain Heaven Mountain. After that you will take a flight to Kashgar. It is the ultimate Silk Road town and today remains a unique melting pot of peoples.
Arrive in Xi’an. You are greeted by your guide at the airport and transferred to the hotel. The rest time is free at your own leisure.
Day 2__Xi’an Tour
Surely Terracotta Warriors is our first destination. After that you will visit Ancient City Wall and Muslim Street.
Terracotta Warriors: is the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century. It was listed by UNESCO in 1987 as one of the world cultural heritages. The museum covers an area of 16,300 square meters, divided into three sections: No. 1 Pit, No. 2 Pit, and No. 3 Pit respectively.
Ancient City Wall: is the most complete city wall that has survived in China, as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
Muslim Street: is a wonderful place to walk around; certainly we won’t miss this place.
Day 3__Xi’an City Tour
In the morning we will visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. And then you will visit Forest of Stele Museum.
Big Wild Goose Pagoda: is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists.
Forest of Stele Museum: was originally built in Northern Song Dynasty (1090 A.D.) when a large Confucian collection of steles cut in A.D. 837 - the oldest existing texts of the Confucian classics - was moved to it for safekeeping. All kinds of calligraphy and scripts tell stories, poems and reports from around the Empire. The rest time is free at your own leisure.
Day 4__Xi’an to Dunhuang
Mogao Grottoes: constructed over a millennium, from the 4th to the 14th centuries, the caves hold the world's richest treasure house of Buddhist sutras, murals and sculptures. It is not allowed to take photos.
Crescent Moon Spring: is 6km south of Dunhuang in the Echoing-Sand Mountain and is quite literally an oasis in the desert. The spring's name derives from the crescent moon shape taken by the small pool of spring water between two large sand dunes.
Day 6__Dunhuang to Turpan
In the morning we will visit the Great Wall of the Han Dynasty (206 BC to 220 AD), and Yumenguan Pass which is one of the west gates out of the country of Han Dynasty. It is quite ruined by the shifting sands but still shows the ever splendor. After lunch, we will visit Yadan Landform Park, the Evil City.
Yadan Landform Park, the Evil City: locates the south to the Wubao town in Hami and 20kms far from Wubao while 100kms far from Hami city. The Evil city is famous for its night sound and vivid rocks in various shapes those look like animals or other world famous attractions in the world. And then you will take overnight train to Turpan.
Upon arrival, your guide will arrange your breakfast. After breakfast, we will visit Suleiman Minaret, Grape Valley and Jiaohe Ruins Site.
Suleiman Minaret: is the biggest ancient existing pagoda in Xinjiang and the only Islamic ancient pagoda in the country. It is located at the Munage village, 2 kilometers away from the Turpan city in the east.
Grape Valley: is a must see in Turpan. With its shady vineyards and trees, this provides a welcome place of relaxation amidst the hundreds of square miles of sand. You may take a seat under the vintage frames, savor various grapes, enjoy the beautiful Uyghur girls in their ornate costumes, and be fully intoxicated by this refreshing palace of grapes. Taking a walk along the grape corridor, you will find drying rooms on nearby slopes. Every year over 300 tons of raisins are made here.
Jiaohe Ruins Site: was built by the old Cheshi people in Qin dynasty and Han dynasty. It was almost dig from natural ground and the tallest building reached three stories high, which is the biggest, oldest and best preserved construction city in the world. The present preservation was descended from Tang dynasty during which period it had its Gold Age.
Day 8__Turpan to Urumqi
After breakfast we will visit Heaven Lake. And then we will drive toUrumqi.
Heaven Lake: is a very beautiful mountain lake formed more than million years ago in the 4th glacial epoch, so the water in it is pure and icy. The altitude of the lake is up to 2150 meters above the sea level and got its fame as the "jewel in the crown".
Day 9__Urumqi to Kashagar
After breakfast, you will take flight to Kashagar. Upon arrival, we will visit 15th century Id Kah Mosque, wander in Zhiren Street and Sunday Bazaar.
Id Kah Mosque: As the biggest mosque in China, it is a group of old Islamic constructions with strong ethnic style and religious features. The whole complex occupies 16,800 square meters (about 4 acres) and consists of the courtyard, the Hall of Prayer, and the gate tower and as well as some other attached structures. It is said that this place was once a cemetery. The present Id Kah Mosque was built in 1442 as a very small structure. Several renovations and enlargements have created it with today's scale and style.
Zhiren Street, which is close to Id Kah Mosque, an old street with an amazing range of goods being crafted for sale by hand, from strictly utilitarian cookware to exotic musical instruments. Sunday Bazaar: famous throughout Asia, this ancient market attracts locals and merchants from all over Xinjiang and nearby countries such as Pakistan and Kirghizstan.
Day 10__Kashagar to Urumqi
Today we will drive about 2 hours to visit Karakuli Lake. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Kashagar and take flight back to Urumqi.
Karakuli Lake: A sparkling glacial lake, surrounded by stunning rocky mountains, and snow-covered peaks as high as 7500m (the lake's at 3,600). After eating in one of the collection of yurts at the water's edge you can walk around the lake.
Your 11 Days Silk Road Adventure is near the end. You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
